USC vs Mexico

I know which sandwich place we'll try next time we're in Seattle, Char! We got a little taste of Mexican culture this weekend- we watched their women's national soccer team play USC and it was so fun! We cheered for, guess who? Me-hi-ko!!! Beej, you would be so proud. Viva Mexico!

It was pretty thrilling to see them running around in their red socks and to hear all the fans going crazy. The game was at the LA coliseum, a newly acquired venue for USC games. Although Shaun is a trojan he was born in Mexico City, so it was only natural that we cheer for his country. Allegiance goes first to your place of birth, no?

Well it turns out that we made the right choice!

Cuban Meat Sandwich

Paseo, Seattle

No place in Seattle could care less whether you come in than Paseo. The shoe-box shack has no sign, takes no credit. Has so few seats that devotees eat outside on the trunks of their cars. What keeps them returning? The milagro that is the Cuban meat sandwich: marinated, slow-cooked pork ganged into a baguette slathered with garlicky mayonnaise, then mounded again with cilantro, jalapeños, and fat O’s of caramelized onions. skiing!

i've been trying to go skiing as much as possible lately. despite my efforts, i've still only managed to go twice! both times were really fun though. the second time, there was tons of new snow. i'm really looking forward to this long weekend- the redds, mom, beej and i are going skiing in the rockies! i can't wait to ski on some "real" snow. sometime before the season ends i also really want to try snowboarding. i've actually never done it before!

Chinatown

So it was chinese new years! After a few phone calls on the I-10, I found chinatown. My friend who served a chinese speaking mission came from san diego and she and her husband met up with a couple of my other friends and I. We had a grand time scoping out the streets... they were so quaint and littered with bright confetti from the parade.

leadership meeting.

I loved the leadership meeting this morning!  It was great to see Pres Monson as the prophet, speaking to us, and I loved the message that the family is central.  I thought they made an interesting point during the round table they had (with Sis Tanner, Beck and the Primary President, as well as Elder Oaks and Holland,) that there is a difference between housekeeping and homemaking.  I like the idea of setting up a peaceful mood in the home.  Families are cool!

Hot Chocolate- Godiva

So i had some friends over to play monopoly the other day. I served the Godiva hot chocolate Char gave me and it turned out to be the absolute funnest time I've ever had playing monopoly. I think it was the hot chocolate. What happened was we teamed up against one other opponent. Ironically, although we combined the property and finances of THREE people, we kept landing on his property and still lost!!!! It was the funnest time I've ever had losing though.
