Way to go Linds!

Today a last minute sign-waving got thrown together just a few blocks away from where Linds and I live. On the way home from the doctor's office I gave a huge honk and a wave to our very own Lindsay, waving her heart out with a sign about Prop 8 protecting our freedom of speech! It was a bit dicey I have to say. As we waited for the light to change a woman right next to me in a black Jeep rolled down her window and screamed super loudly 'you ***ing bigots!' I was totally shocked! Ian's gotten similar responses at his sign waving- tons of horrifyingly rude remarks and gestures. He's put up hundreds of Yes on 8 signs with his friends that have gotten ripped down and defaced within hours! I guess ProtectMarriage has recently had to reorder 50000 new sign faces because so many have been stolen and defaced, but the bottom part has been left. It's gotten crazy! An elderly couple was attacked when they put up a yes sign on their lawn, and the No side recently made this ad about how Mormon missionaries are invading peoples homes and teraing up their marriage licenses. At first I thought it was joke, I couldn't believe it when it aired on MSNBC and NBC this morning! So anyways, way to go Linds and Ian both for showing courage in the face of all this aggressive opposition! For people who are into tolerance, this sure isn't the best example to be setting. We find out tonight what happens... keep your fingers crossed! I think we all want this to be over!

Way to go Beej for doing so well on your LSAT exam. Looks like all the studying and stressing paid off. Yeay!

The Puentes

Church with the Puentes was fun today! I came into the chapel and Caleb and Julian looked so cute in their sweater vests!! The outfit depicted above is the most similar pic I found. We got underway with the meeting, then Meliss got up to bear her testimony. Julian was so cute. He said, 'Mommy!!' and we had to engage an extra set of hands to help while she was up there- a nice woman in the row in front of us, who held Jack. We had a good system today. There was Gail, who's a nice older woman from the ward, holding Christian, Ian helped Caleb and Julian, and then I was on and off with holding Jack and being on hand-out'wipes/snacks/anything else you need' duty, when Meliss was holding him. It was a lovely meeting and I was so happy to be there and see all the lovely babies. Thanks for your wonderful testimony, Meliss!
Can't wait to have a lot more of the family next week and to see the baby blessings!

The LA times

Here are a few pics from our rockband party from a little while ago... we've had round 2 since then, but in this inauguration, we had a huge projected screen on our living room wall and played ROCKBAND. My roomate won it from work- the xbox and game and everything. It was awesome. The guitarists and singers and drummists of the night all took turns and we kept score to award a winning band! Team SHORTBUS won that round! It was awesome. My team, the band, 'inc.' was a close runner up! I love having people over to our appartment. We had a barbeque and enjoyed some chat, celebrity gossip, and of course, the loud 'live' music. The best part is that the neighbors did not complain! We will have to have another one again soon...

Many of you know that Dad and I love to try new drinks. Last weekend we had pomegranate - apple and pear - grape. And one of Dads favorites is ginger beer. Well today, in my five minute dash into Albertsons I noticed an interesting drink - this is for real - in the BEVERAGE section, near the orange juice. It looked like a sparkly twist on ginger ale - it was Pumpkin Ale! and in a little six pack container just like ginger beer! Since Uncle John is also a beverage afficionado and he's coming to visit this weekend, I thought, "Dad and John will love this!" I threw it into the cart.
When I put dinner on the table for Rach and I, there was the Pumpkin Ale, sitting by the door. I thought - we'll test taste it for them! I put it on the table, opened a bottle for Rach and as I was putting the bottle to my mouth, I thought, "I'm in for a taste treat!!!"
That isn't exactly what happened. As soon as I swallowed the ale I realized, "OK time to change the meds!!" :) It wasn't exactly what I thought it would be! It tasted, well - let's just say it did NOT taste like pumpkin ginger ale! Rachel didn't want to stop laughing and me , well I guess if I don't laugh I can cry!! $7.99 down the drain - Literally!
Guess us Canaricans (at least teetotaller ones) can be reminded that US grocery stores sell Ale with a capital A!

Ghouls gone wild

Happy Halloween! I received the funnest little door hanging for my roomates and my door. It reads, 'Ghouls gone wild!' This little hanging came in the mail today to my delight! It sure brightened my day, and as each of my roomates came home they all seemed to enjoy it too!!
