Happy Birthday Spencer!

Happy birthday Spencer!  I always associate this song with soccer and I know you are quite a big fan of the sport, so there ya go!  Plus you seem to be quite a persistent type. Hope you have an awesome day!
Love, Rachel

Beej:
Spencer- Thought you would appreciate this soon to be timeless classic.  Of the sports I follow, I love the passion of soccer fans the most, including yours, the most.  I also admire your passion for playing sports, your commitment and desire to always do what's right.

The lyrics are great "R is for Royal, E is for everyone A is for All a L is for the love of the game ... we have the courage to never be defeated." phenomenal stuff.  If Sylvester Stallone does another Rocky movie this is the song he should use.  The group who sings the song, Meg and Dia, are also kinda famous.  I hope for another great year for you and Real Salt Lake both!!

Lindsay:

Spencer and I entered our Edmonton Wedding Reception to this song.  It was so fun to join friends and family, come into our first event as a married couple, and enter our new life!!

Since our reception and this entrance music, we have joined hands to experience many different life events together.  Spence, you are such a great friend and husband, are SO good to me, and truly inspire me with your smile, your intelligence, your work ethic, and your kindness. You make me want to be a better person. I love you!  There's no one I'd rather enter the events of life with. Happy Birthday!

Charla:
I choose to dedicate the song "Like a Rock" to you Spencer because you are like a rock.  Solid, dependable and reliable.  You are just the kind of guy that can be counted on.  Glad I know you bro.

Jordan:
Happy Birthday Spencer! I chose this epic song because it reminds me of your coolness, calmness and resoluteness and that you are likely ready to face any challenge that comes your way. All in all I think that you would do really well in a western showdown and I can hear this music playing in the background!

Spencer!
One of the reasons I chose this 'birthday song' for you is because you have such a tender sweet way with children.
And the other reason is because the guy singing the song will be you in just a few weeks :)

Love you!  Have a wonderful birthday!!
Coleen

Happy Birthday Spencer,
I chose this song because you have such a solid group of friends from your elementary school days.
This is really remarkable and says a lot of good things about who you are.
Here's to 'The Brethren'!  (PS I'm not condoning sixties era substance abuse :)
Love, Oliver

Engaged!

I know you have all heard by now, but I am engaged!  It is very exciting to actually be engaged even though we have both been talking about it for a little while now.  Most of our families and our friends here in Utah were expecting it so it's fun to be able to make it official now.  The brief version of the engagement story is that Andrew gave me clues incorporating lyrics from some of our favorite songs.  He made 27 clues (representative of the 27th of July, 2011, when we met for the first time.  It is pretty awesome that we are getting married exactly two years later!) which led to important places for us around the area.  He also involved a couple of my roommates - Amberly dressed up as a gypsy and told our fortune and Allison dressed up as Batman and kidnapped me from work!  Anyway, after many hours of clues, we eventually ended up at Brighton ski resort for some night skiing, then went to Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City after that.  At the park, Andrew's brother-in-law had set up some candles, flowers, pictures of me and Andrew, and a sign that said "Marry me, Rachel?" and of course that is where Andrew proposed.  Obviously I said yes!  So that is the short version of how it happened.  We are happy to share the news with everyone and excited to celebrate with everyone! :)

Here is my ring.  I'm not much of a diamond person so I chose a sapphire

LA Girls Weekend

We were just having too much fun last weekend to take a lot of photos but these ones give an idea of some of the good times at the Schneidz Girls Weekend in LA.

Someone in this photo is sharing the happy news about the new ring on her finger - placed there just the day before she arrived!

Beautiful girls in the beautiful arboretum - Char and Ruby - you would have looked great in this photo too!  Next time....

Tea party at the American Girl store in the Grove - with some of our favorite little friends

Happy Birthday Snej!

Sorry I missed the main post (couldn't get my laptop to work last night).  The song I chose was smells like teem spirit.  Nirvana is still one of my favorite bands today pretty much strictly for nostalgic childhood reasons.  As you remember I pretty much followed your lead on everything when I was really little.  I remember beginning about grade 3 I liked Nirvana which made me a pretty cool grade 3er and it was all thanks to you.  As I've grown up I've admired your ability to march to your own drum and choose the things you not because of peer pressure but because they're right for you.  Happy Birthday!!

Jord's Birthday!.....Hooray!

Jordan we love you!  Happy birthday!!!!
Mom
Jord! You've always been a musician - from your pre-school music class when you inspired the teacher to use you as a model for her music book illustrations - to elementary school when you amazed us with your piano prowess, to junior high when your double bass teacher told me what a great musician you were, to high school and your garage band days...and then on to busking with your sibs in Seattle when you could tell right away which one of them was just a half tone off! But when I heard you play THIS song in your pre-mish days and living in Zion, I was truly amazed!! and said to myself, "This guy (meaning YOU!) can really rock and roll!

Happy Birthday Jord!! It would be impossible for me to be more proud of you.  I love you, Mom

This song illustrates what Jordan does so well. And this version is a great reminder of Jord's garage band days.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-A6iytDF5s
Happy Birthday Jordan!

Hey! Happy Birthday Snej! You're the best! It's so fun having you as an older brother. I hope you have a fabulous birthday with your cute wife and delightful children.

This song reminds me of your adolescence - rocking in our garage with your band! I also think of how I was the designated keeper of your 'acdc and metallica' cds while you were on your mission ;) PLUS, there are pipers, to boot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1iR2Wi3u5o

 Spencer
From one fellow accountant to another. Remember to dream the dream and enjoy your birthday outside of tax season. Happy birthday! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhPlFM6ohfY

Happy birthday Jordan! Hope you have an awesome day! I chose this song because I remember you
singing along to it when we had that Johnny Cash CD on some road trip we went on. You had a great
impersonation of him going on. I've always admired your abundant musical talents!

Wise Up by Aimee Mann - The you tube video of this song tells the story of a friend who proudly stands beside crazy for the sake of solidarity and friendship. Thanks Jord. (You're Jeff, I'm Pierce - I think it's a perfect rendition of our lives this past year)

Ian
I chose Man On The Street by Don Drummond. Its a catchy little ska tune and ska is where I first started to notice bass lines in music. Jordan, your choice of the double bass says so much positive about you. The double bass isn't flashy, but without it everything else falls apart. I liked this quote on wikipedia: "[The bass part is] the foundation of harmony." I think that perfectly summarizes you Jordan. You are a great brother, son, father and husband because you are really supportive and generous. You don't seek a lot of acclaim or the spotlight and take a lot of pleasure in helping and supporting those around you. I feel fortunate to call you a brother in law. Have a fantastic birthday and here's to the best year yet for you and yours!
Love,
Ian

Melissa
I was thinking of Ring of Fire also but I noticed that Rachel grabbed that one. Another musical memory I have is playing "Silent Night" with you over Christmas and trying to sing it in the German. I love how quietly and consistently you continue to engage with music and playing music in your home. The boys had so much fun during their sleepover at your house this summer when you got out your guitar and serenaded them to sleep. You are such a thoroughly wonderful and loving person and I love you very much. Thanks for being you and hope you have a wonderful birthday.
Lots of Love,
Melissa

Happy Groundhog Day!

Apparently there will be an early spring this year - yay!!! I can't remember the last time that happened.  I guess we can be glad it wasn't this weather prediction :)
