Blackberry Season

YYYYUMMMMMM!!!

Blackberry season is one of the highlights of the year here on MI. It has become a
family tradition to make blackberry cobbler and freeze these yummy treats for the
coming winter. I guess there must have been a bear in our family tree. This year was
especially good, and we had John, Rachel, and David helping us out.
Wish you were here.

Love, Gramps

I admire it is a tradition and that they still show up for it. Our experience while living there was whining and moaning about the brambles and prickles and snakes and bugs and the stains on the hands. It didn't deter B and me though but we certainly didn't ever have enough to freeze. Blackberry picking is not for the soft handed.

Yum! Would have loved to have been there too! Especially to eat them ;) Spence and I will have to plan a trip around that season as well (although Springtime was BEAUTIFUL there too !!)

I'm glad to hear the tradition of berry picking is still going strong in the family. Grandpa & i picked crabapples & chokecherries. I now have juice, jelly, butter, sauce - the two mixed together make a super preserve.

Yes, so true, Grannie! I love your jams and jellies! We are enjoying the crabapple jelly you gave me in May. It's almost gone but luckily you also gave us that pesto, so we're set for a little while more :)
